I’ve been a runner for 15 years. I started with a two mile jog to lose weight and 7 years later I was at the start line of my first 50 mile ultra marathon. I’ve run through starting a new career, I’ve run while single, I’ve run through marriage, I’ve run while pregnant, I’ve run through moving, I’ve run through having my first baby, I’ve run through having my second. I’ve had goals of running for 5 minutes, I’ve had goals of finishing 50 miles in 10 hours. My goals change, my life changes, my plans change… but I always have running. It is my identity, it is my therapy. It keeps me balanced, it keeps me strong. It gives me peace and it gives me pride. It makes me laugh and it makes me hurt. One thing it has never given me is regret. Regardless of what I’ve run through, I have never finished a run and felt worse or regretted going out.
I desperately want to give others a chance to experience what running has done for me. It has changed my life. I have seen it change the lives of so many others. There is this misconception that in order to run, you have to be a certain type of person, you have to have a certain body type, you have to eat a certain way… That is all false. I want you to trust me to show you how running can be for you. How with a good plan, mindset work, accountability and a goal (that has nothing to do with losing weight), you can learn to LOVE running as I have. It can be a gift you give yourself no matter what stage of life you are in. I hope you will give it a try… or if you have already done it, I hope you’ll give it another chance. I hope we all get a chance to RUN FOR OUR LIVES.
